Public consultation on opportunities offered by digital technologies for the culture heritage sector

Republished by ECBN from: European Commission

The European Commission is evaluating Recommendation of 27 October 2011 on the digitisation and online accessibility of cultural material and digital preservation to make sure it is still fit to respond to the needs and challenges of the cultural heritage sector in an era of rapid and continuous technological changes. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has led to the disruption of the sector’s traditional way of working, making the digital transformation of cultural heritage institutions  more relevant than ever. The Commission is seeking your view on the importance of digitisation and digital transformation in the cultural heritage sector and ways of supporting such processes, collecting the views of Member State competent authorities, national and regional cultural heritage institutions, international and umbrella organisations and networks, the Europeana ecosystem of organisations and professionals, technology stakeholders such as companies, SMEs/entrepreneurs, research organisations, academia and citizens. The online consultation for the evaluation of the Recommendation takes place between 22nd June 2020 and 14th September 2020 at 23:59 CET.
