The United Kingdom’s position as the preferred location for many non-European firm’s headquarters has resulted in notably higher levels of R&D internationalisation in comparison to other similarly sized regions. Regardless of a small dip of inward R&D intensity between 2003 and 2007, an overall increase of inward BERD was present. The stable environment of the UK has proven useful for both domestic and foreign BERD initiatives.
